Our story

The story behind Blooming Day

An embroidered reproduction of Van Gogh's Sunflowers in an ornate antique-gold frame, held in a hand
Van Gogh’s Sunflowers, recreated with needle and thread.

01 How it started

Embroidery became my everyday stress relief.

My name is Iryna Kutsyna, and I’m a self-taught Ukrainian artist, obsessed with art and birds. Due to the war, I had to flee from my homeland, and now I continue my work in Poland.

About 10 years ago, embroidery became my hobby. It helped me deal with stress after a hard day, and since then it has been my everyday stress relief.

In my creative search, I found myself in the field of embroidered reproductions of famous paintings. First I tried brooches, and then embroidered hoop art. Recreating art made by impressionists and other great painters with needles and threads is something special for me.

02 Where & how it’s made

A small family shop in Wroclaw, Poland

I design and embroider, and my beloved husband Pavlo draws patterns for your kits and ships your orders.

  1. Great paintings. Every design starts with art by the impressionists and other great painters, recreated with needles and threads.
  2. Patterns. Pavlo draws the patterns for your kits, so you can stitch a famous painting with your own hands.
  3. Tutorials. A PDF tutorial gives you tips on materials and supplies, a pattern to print and trace, step-by-step instructions (scheme and live photos) and how to finish your embroidered hoop.
  4. Shipping. Worldwide shipping: orders from the U.S. ship from a U.S. warehouse for most kits (delivery within 2–4 business days), and orders from other countries ship from Poland.
